Metlen Chairman and CEO Evangelos Mytilineos has highlighted the strategic importance of infrastructure following last week’s signing of the contract for the construction of the Skaramagas triple interchange project.
In a post on LinkedIn, Mytilineos said infrastructure is about creating the conditions for long-term growth.
He noted that if Europe wants to strengthen its competitiveness, revive its industrial base and achieve strategic autonomy, it must invest in infrastructure that makes those objectives possible.
“What Europe needs today is not only ambitious policymaking,” he noted. “It needs a renewed commitment to industrial investment, energy security, infrastructure development and technological leadership.”
Mytilineos added that strategic autonomy will be achieved through tangible projects, factories, networks, energy infrastructure and industrial capabilities that strengthen Europe’s economy and resilience, rather than through declarations alone.
“That is why infrastructure matters,” he concluded. “Not simply because it connects places, but because it creates the foundations for future prosperity.”
