Greek Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos visited Aegean’s completed Maintenance Base and Flight Simulator and Crew Training Center at the Athens International Airport, a strategic investment that has been designated as a flagship project under Greece’s investment framework.
The minister, accompanied by Secretary General for Private Investments Stellina Siarapi, was welcomed by Aegean Chairman Eftychios Vassilakis, who led a tour of the facilities.
Theodorikakos toured the airline’s state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities, as well as its pilot and cabin crew training center. The investment, with a budget exceeding 66 million euros, has been classified as a flagship investment of exceptional importance and received 13 million euros in state support from the Ministry of Development.
During the visit, the minister was briefed on the capabilities of the maintenance base, which services Aegean Group’s fleet while also providing aircraft maintenance services to third-party operators.
He also visited the Flight Simulator and Training Center, which is equipped with four state-of-the-art full-flight simulators for Airbus, Boeing and ATR aircraft, enabling advanced pilot training. The facility also includes specialized training infrastructure for cabin crew, covering emergency procedures such as aircraft evacuation, live firefighting and water ditching exercises.
