Fraport Greece and the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) have entered into a five-year strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of Greece’s regional airports.
The collaboration combines Fraport Greece’s operational expertise with CERTH’s research and technological capabilities to develop innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of the aviation sector while enhancing airport operations.
Based on Fraport Greece’s extensive experience in managing the country’s 14 regional airports and CERTH’s scientific expertise as one of Greece’s leading research institutions, the partnership will focus on joint research and development (R&D) initiatives. The goal is to create advanced digital tools that improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality and further upgrade the passenger experience.
The partnership is expected to deliver a range of innovative technologies and digital solutions, including:
- Drone-based inspection of airport infrastructure and facilities.
- Artificial intelligence-powered predictive maintenance for critical airport infrastructure and assets.
- AI applications to optimize passenger flows and terminal operations.
- Digital solutions that improve operational efficiency while enhancing the overall passenger experience.
- Robotics applications for passenger assistance, autonomous logistics, security support and other airport operational needs.
The initiative forms part of Fraport Greece’s long-term vision to develop a modern, smart and sustainable airport ecosystem, leveraging innovation and technological advancement as key drivers of future growth.
