Athens International Airport (AIA) announced an 8.1% increase in passenger traffic in the first quarter compared to the same quarter last year, but a decline in profitability due to pricing policy adjustments and geopolitical pressures.
Specifically, passenger traffic reached 6.3 million passengers, up 8.1% year-on-year. However, total revenues and other income decreased by 7.1 million, or 5.7%, to 117.9 million compared to the same quarter last year, mainly due to the temporary 30% discount on the Passenger Service Charge, which was implemented from 1 October 2025 and expired on 30 April 2026.
In addition:
Adjusted EBITDA stood at 55.3 million euros, down 14.9% compared to the first quarter of 2025, reflecting the impact of the pricing policy implemented to align profitability with the regulatory framework.
Profit After Tax amounted to 18.9 million euros, a decrease of 7.3 million euros.
The 2026 Scrip Dividend Program was successfully completed on May 15, with a participation rate of 87.64% and capital raising of 83.25 million euros, which will be added to the Aviation Activities Capital.
The Airport Expansion Program is ongoing: construction works are progressing on the Multi-storey Car Park and the new North-West Aircraft Parking Apron, while the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) tender process for the Main and Satellite Terminal buildings is underway, with contract award expected in the second half of 2026.
