IMF concern over latest major Greek firm facing bankruptcy

The gloomy news of Greek supermarket giant Marinopoulos seeking protection from creditors under an article of Greece’s bankruptcy code was heard all the way to Washington D.C. this week, with an IMF spokesman fielding a question and expressing the Fund’s concern over the loss of more jobs in the recession-battered country.

Gerry Rice reiterated that the IMF is always concerned over such negative developments, while adding that the Fund wants the bailout program in Greece to be credible and functional, thus contributing to efforts to cut unemployment in the country.
