In total, passenger traffic (arrivals and departures, domestic and international) reached 2,946,699 passengers in January-May 2026, up from 2,715,790 in the corresponding period of 2025, according to official statistics.
The airports covered include Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupoli, Lemnos, Astypalaia, Ioannina, Chios, Kozani, Kastoria, Karpathos, Kythira, Milos, Skyros, Nea Anchialos, Paros, Syros, Araxos, Naxos, Kalymnos, Ikaria, Kastellorizo, Kasos, Leros and Sitia.
In May 2026, passenger traffic increased by 8% across all 24 HCAA-managed airports.
Heraklion Airport, which handles the highest volume of passengers among them, recorded an 8.1% increase in May, handling 1,139,079 passengers compared with 1,054,181 in the same month last year.
Growth across all 39 Greek airports
At the same time, total passenger traffic across all 39 airports in Greece handling commercial flights rose by 5.7% in the first five months of 2026, reaching 23,076,532 passengers compared with 21,837,473 in the same period of 2025.
In terms of aircraft movements (arrivals and departures, domestic and international) across the 39 airports under the air traffic control oversight of the HCAA, activity increased by 4.8% in January–May 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. A total of 186,119 flights were recorded, up from 177,573 a year earlier.
