Icon Energy Corp., owned by Ismini Panagiotidi, announced an agreement to participate as a minority investor in the acquisition of a containership that will be employed under a long-term charter with an investment-grade liner operator.
The vessel is a geared 2,000-TEU feeder containership built in 2008, featuring substantial reefer cargo capacity. Following its acquisition, the vessel will be chartered at a fixed daily rate of 26,500 dollars for a period of 24-26 months, securing minimum contracted revenue of approximately 19 million dollars.
Icon will acquire an approximately 5% stake in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) that will own the vessel. The transaction will be funded through available cash resources and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
The company said the investment forms part of a broader strategy that complements its core focus on the dry bulk shipping sector.
