EFA Group has acquired a 100% stake in SSMART, in a move aimed at significantly expanding its capabilities in command-and-control (C2), Combat Management Systems (CMS) and radar technologies.
The acquisition also enhances the group’s expertise in software development and systems integration for naval platforms.
SSMART has delivered projects in more than 15 international markets, including shipbuilding and modernization programs for the Hellenic Navy, while since 2016 it has provided support services for the navy’s principal surface combatants.
“The people and expertise of SSMART will enable us to further accelerate EFA Group’s growth while continuing to support the Hellenic Armed Forces with the same professionalism and consistency,” said EFA Group Chief Executive Grigoris Koutsogiannis.
“Our goal is to preserve and further develop this valuable know-how at both the national and international level. In other words, we are building the Greek defense industry that the country has sought to establish since the late 1990s. For it to be sustainable, however, it must be export-oriented and built on advanced technologies where Greek engineers can excel,” he added.
Through the acquisition, EFA Group aims to develop advanced domestically designed defense products, strengthening the strategic autonomy and international competitiveness of Greece’s defense industry.
The company said SSMART’s long-standing expertise in the design, production, maintenance and software upgrades for mission-critical systems complements the capabilities of EFA Group’s existing subsidiaries, enhancing its ability to deliver integrated and interoperable solutions across the full spectrum of operational requirements.
