Greek interests account for 30% of the fleet classed by RINA, according to George Youroukos, Chairman of RINA’s Greek Advisory Committee and head of shipping companies Technomar and Global Ship Lease, speaking during the Committee’s latest meeting.

Youroukos highlighted Greece’s strategic importance within RINA’s maritime portfolio, noting that the Greek-controlled fleet classed by the Italian classification society comprises approximately 820 vessels and 24.8 million gross tons (GT), representing around 30% of RINA’s total tonnage.

Also addressing the meeting were RINA Executive Chairman Ugo Salerno and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Luzzatto, who reaffirmed the group’s commitment to innovation, practical solutions and long-term growth.

Following another year of strong performance, RINA recently surpassed the 1 billion euro revenue milestone while continuing to implement its 2030 strategic plan and further strengthen its position in the maritime sector through the acquisition of Foreship.

Antonis Trakakis, Technical Director of Energy Transition Solutions, outlined hybrid propulsion and electrification technologies as two key pathways toward improved energy efficiency and decarbonization.

Commenting on the outcome of the meeting, Spyros Zolotas, Vice President Marine South Europe Region, said:

“The Greek Advisory Committee continues to serve as an important forum for dialogue between RINA and the Greek shipping community. At a time of profound transformation for our industry, collaboration, technical expertise and the exchange of views are essential to support decision-making and help shipping navigate the challenges ahead.”
