Greek defence company ALTUS-LSA and US defence technology firm Shield AI have signed a strategic agreement aimed at integrating their unmanned systems and expanding their presence in international defence markets.
The agreement covers the integration of ALTUS-LSA’s KMB Hunter interceptor drone and its M3NTOR Unmanned Command & Control (C2) system with Shield AI’s V-BAT unmanned aerial system (UAS) and Hivemind autonomy software.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Paiania, ALTUS-LSA Chief Executive Zacharias Sarris said the partnership marked an important step in the company’s international expansion in the unmanned aerial systems market, with the aim of meeting the needs of the Greek armed forces as well as overseas customers.
Sarris said the company’s strategy centred on delivering cost-effective, operationally efficient solutions. The KMB Hunter, launched five months ago, is designed for both air-to-air and air-to-ground strike missions. He said its low expected acquisition cost and reduced mission costs make it suitable for large-scale operations, while integration with the V-BAT platform would enhance battlefield reach and enable real-time threat neutralisation.
Shield AI’s Regional Director for Eastern and Southeast Europe, James Lythgoe, said the agreement would strengthen the US company’s presence in the Greek market.
The companies will collaborate on both hardware integration and software development to support the integration of the KMB Hunter with the V-BAT platform, with the goal of building technical expertise and expanding the partnership over the longer term.
Lythgoe described the collaboration as a “game changer”, saying the combined system would enable drones not only to conduct surveillance but also to engage and intercept threats on the battlefield.
