More than 200 Greek companies have an active presence in the United Arab Emirates, while Greek investors have undertaken more than 100 investment projects, with total invested capital estimated at between 400-700 million euros, according to Greece’s Annual Economic Report 2025 for the UAE.
The report, prepared by the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Greek Embassy in Abu Dhabi, estimates that more than 8,000 Greek professionals and executives are currently working in the UAE, primarily in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Construction and engineering account for the largest share of Greek investment in the UAE, representing 25% of the total, followed by shipping and logistics at 20%. Food and beverages and technology and digital services each account for 15%, pharmaceuticals and healthcare for 10%, tourism and hospitality for 8%, energy and renewable energy for 5%, while other sectors make up the remaining 2%.
Greek engineering companies are involved in infrastructure, hotel and industrial projects, while Greek shipping interests operate in the ports of Jebel Ali and Fujairah, providing chartering, maritime services and ship management. The report noted that the presence of Greek shipping companies in Dubai has been steadily increasing.
In the food sector, Greek investments focus on the distribution of Greek products, logistics centers, wholesale trade, restaurant chains and high value-added products such as olive oil, dairy products, wine, processed foods and organic products.
Greek pharmaceutical companies have established subsidiaries and regional distribution hubs serving the UAE and the wider Gulf market. At the same time, investment has been growing in fintech, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software development and smart city applications.
Looking ahead, the report identifies renewable energy, green hydrogen, artificial intelligence, fintech, logistics, maritime technology, agritech, pharmaceuticals, tourism projects and data centers as the sectors offering the strongest growth opportunities for Greek businesses over the 2026-2030 period.
