The Association of Banking and Financial Executives of Greek Shipping, in cooperation with XRTC Business Consultants, held the unveiling ceremony for a commemorative plaque marking the establishment of the Greek Liaison Office of the Shanghai Pudong Service Center for Overseas Investment.

The establishment of the Greek Liaison Office is not merely the creation of a new institution but a strategic platform linking Shanghai’s Pudong district—China’s financial and economic hub—with Piraeus, Europe’s gateway and the world’s largest maritime center, the Association’s President and XRTC Business Consultants Chief Executive George Xiradakis said.

“I am convinced that the organizations participating in this initiative, by leveraging their expertise, networks and experience, can act as catalysts for new investments and business partnerships for the mutual benefit of Greece, China and the business communities of both countries,” Xiradakis said.

“International outreach is not simply a strategic choice. It is the bridge that transforms trust into investment, investment into growth and cooperation into shared prosperity. With this vision, we are inaugurating the Greek Liaison Office of the Shanghai Pudong Service Center for Overseas Investment and commit to making it a reference point for a new era in Greece-China economic relations,” he added.

Deputy Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy Stefanos Gkikas said the creation of the liaison office marks another important step in strengthening economic ties between Greece and China, opening new opportunities for cooperation in shipping, trade and investment.

Li Ying, Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Greece, reaffirmed China’s longstanding support for deepening bilateral economic cooperation, saying the new office will serve as a comprehensive platform for business networking, information and investment support.

Wang Yue, Director General of the Shanghai Pudong Service Center for Overseas Investment, presented Pudong’s global investment support network and highlighted the strategic role of the Greek Liaison Office as a gateway for Chinese companies seeking to invest in Greece and Southeast Europe, as well as for Greek businesses looking to expand into China.

The new Greek Liaison Office will serve as a permanent platform to:

  • promote two-way investment between Greece and China;
  • support business partnerships;
  • provide advisory services for business establishment;
  • connect investors with institutional stakeholders; and
  • strengthen cooperation in shipping, logistics, finance, technology, green development and international trade.

According to the organizers, the establishment of the Greek Liaison Office underscores the shared commitment of Greece and China to further deepen their strategic partnership by creating new opportunities for investment and economic growth in both countries.
