The Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) sent a strong message about the need for immediate upgrading maritime education during the New Year’s pie cutting event, which was held for the first time at the facilities of the Piraeus Maritime Club.
In his speech, the Secretary General of the PNO, Captain Emmanuel Tsikalakis, emphasized that maritime education is the foundation for the future of the maritime profession and Greek shipping.
He also stressed the importance of upgrading the Merchant Navy Academies as well as ensuring adequate staffing and modern educational tools.
Tsikalakis warned that without substantial interventions, young people will continue to move away from the maritime profession, endangering a national asset of strategic importance.
The Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation, as he pointed out, will continue to advocate for solutions aimed at a modern, attractive and quality maritime education.
