As a founding member, PPC participates in the “Coalition for Sustainable Procurement” of the UN Global Compact, which aims to highlight procurement as a central lever for promoting sustainability and competitiveness in businesses.
The new international initiative was officially presented in New York, marking an international collaboration between large businesses, organizations and states to promote sustainable, transparent and responsible supply chains. PPC’s participation confirms, as emphasized, its firm commitment to the formation of uniform, internationally recognized sustainability standards in business procurement.
The UN Global Compact is the largest global initiative for corporate responsibility, bringing together more than 20,000 companies and organizations from 160 countries. Based on its 10 Principles covering human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption, it promotes a shared international culture of corporate responsibility and transparency.
In this context, the new “Sustainable Procurement Alliance” has been created to support businesses of all sizes in the transition to more sustainable, resilient and responsible supply chains. The initiative seeks to align businesses with European and international standards, such as the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the development of common ESG risk assessment tools, as well as the formation of a uniform framework of good practices, knowledge and skills.
During the presentation of the international initiative, the need to align large and small businesses on common standards and procedures was highlighted, with the aim of enhancing sustainability and transparency throughout the supply chain.
With the aim of establishing common principles of sustainable procurement, PPC strengthens partnerships with all stakeholders, supporting consultation, the exchange of know-how and the strengthening of skills related to the sustainable operation of procurement.
Through the “Alliance for Sustainable Procurement”, PPC contributes to the integration of the U.N. Principles Global Compact across the entire spectrum of its transactions, promoting transparent and responsible interaction with the supplier ecosystem, aligning with modern international and European sustainability standards, as well as developing practices that enhance the overall resilience of the value chain.
