Alpha Bank plans to overhaul its branches

Alpha Bank is planning a complete overhaul of its branches in 2026, along with a rebranding that will mark the beginning of a new era for the bank.

Alpha Bank has invested a lot in technology to proceed with the digital transformation of its internal and external operations, while this transformation is expected to be completed in 2026, especially in the branches, which are the traditional point of contact of the bank with the customer.

Already 98% of financial transactions are made outside the branch and the remaining 2% are also going to be digitized in the near future.

“We have currently digitized approximately 350 different services from smaller to larger. There are only a few services that have not been digitized and someone can go to the branch or make a video call via e-banking,” a source from Alpha Bank’s technology unit told “N”.

As the same source clarified, there is no plan to reduce the bank’s branches. On the contrary, the bank intends to maintain its branch network and its people but with the necessary restructuring so that they meet the new needs of customers.

Change of procedures

Another thing that is expected to change within the branches is certain procedures that are passed to the central operating unit of the bank. The branches used to be mini banks until recently. That is, many procedures were done locally. Now, this entire physical archive of the branches has been scanned for three years in order to centralize certain procedures.

“The physical archive has disappeared in 150 out of the 250 branches, and the procedure is to be fully completed in 2026,” the source added. Finally, further training of the staff is also planned so that they can respond to the new functions.
