A 5 on the Richter scale earthquake was recorded at 01.49 local time (23.49 GMT) near the west-central Aegean’s Sporades island chain. The quake’s epicenter was 33 kilometers northwest of the island of Skyros, at a depth of12.9 kilometers.
No damages were reported, only aftershocks.
By some accounts, the earthquake was felt as far south as Athens.
