Three commercial vessels, one of them Greek-owned, were hit by projectiles of unknown origin in the wider area of the Strait of Hormuz, fortunately without any casualties or injuries.
According to maritime security companies, the two bulk carriers – one of them linked to Greek interests – were hit at different locations in the Persian Gulf.
Risk management firm Vanguard identified the Greek-owned vessel as the Star Gwyneth, an 83,000-dwt bulk carrier built in 2006 and sailing under the Marshall Islands flag. The vessel was struck by a projectile of unknown origin about 50 nautical miles northwest of Dubai, with the impact reported on the hull.
Crew safe
According to information from Naftemporiki, the crew is safe. Contrary to initial reports, the vessel has not listed and no marine pollution has been reported.
