Greece’s Foreign Ministry concluded the repatriation of Greek citizens and their family members from the Middle East on March 3-4, 2026, amid the intensifying war crisis in the region.
The operations were carried out following instructions from Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and through coordinated efforts between the ministry’s central and overseas services.
Repatriations
Specifically, the following repatriations were completed:
- 93 Greek citizens and their family members were repatriated from Oman on a special flight operated by Aegean Airlines, arranged by the Greek embassies in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
- 42 Greek citizens from Bethlehem travelled by road to Egypt, escorted by the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem.
- 27 members of the youth team of Aris Thessaloniki travelled by air from the United Arab Emirates to Istanbul and continued their journey by road to Thessaloniki, with arrangements made by the Greek Consulate General in Istanbul.
Operations Ongoing
According to the Foreign Ministry, repatriation operations are continuing as hostilities across the wider Middle East continue.
The ministry said it remains on full alert to provide every possible assistance to Greek citizens affected by developments and currently located in countries across the region.
