The Greek Asso.subsea has signed a contract for the construction of the “Andromeda”, a new generation Trenching Support Vessel (TSV) and sister ship to the “Avra” being built at the same shipyard.

The agreement was activated through an option included in the original contract and strengthens the strategic partnership with the China Merchants Heavy Industry (CMHI) shipyard in Shenzhen.

Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028. With a 24 MW hybrid propulsion power and a dual standby DP-2 design, the “Andromeda” is among the most powerful vessels of its kind. It will be able to deploy two trenching vehicles simultaneously, while it has dual work decks and the ability to install a 4,000-ton carousel.

The investment is part of the strategy to strengthen Asso.subsea’s presence in complex offshore energy projects.
