The Greek head of Core Power’s growing nuclear engineering team, Ioannis Kourasis, participated as a speaker at the IMO SDC 12 meeting, presenting the topic “Nuclear Safety at Sea” on behalf of NEMO – Nuclear Energy Maritime Organization.
In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of rigorous and documented licensing procedures that ensure the protection of people and the environment, emphasizing that maritime authorities must leverage existing knowledge when regulating floating nuclear applications.
He stressed the need to take into account the specific operational conditions of the sea.
