Strong demand was recorded in the issue of the 10-year Greek government bond from the very first minutes on Tuesday, with total bids exceeding 45 billion euros, setting a new historical record.

Following the strong response from investors, the Greek government raised 4 billion euros, compared to an initial target of 3 billion euros.

Greece taps international markets for the first time in 2026, with the issuance of a new 10-year bond maturing in January 2036, which confirms the strong investment momentum for Greek debt.

The large oversubscription also allowed for a satisfactory coupon. The initial guidance, which was set at mid-swaps + 60–65 basis points, is now limited to mid-swaps +58 points, i.e. 3.45%, further strengthening the Greek State’s negotiating position. The process is run by six leading international banks — BNP Paribas, BofA Securities, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE, J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley.
