Capital Clean Energy Carriers Corp, owned by Evangelos Marinakis, has announced the delivery of the world’s first 22,000 cubic meter low-pressure liquid carbon dioxide (LCO₂) carrier.

The vessel Active was delivered by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard and is the first of four sister LCO₂/multi-gas carriers expected to be delivered to the company in 2026.

The Active is designed to transport LCO₂, while maintaining high commercial flexibility, as it can transport LPG, ammonia and selected petrochemical products. This series of vessels supports the emerging carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) value chain, where transportation demand is expected to increase significantly by 2030.

The company’s CEO, Jerry Kalogiratos, described the delivery as a “strategic milestone”, emphasizing that the investment strengthens CCEC’s cash flow resilience and position in clean energy shipping.
