Castor Maritime Inc. announced the signing of a sale and leaseback agreement for the cargo ship M/V Magic Perseus, a Kamsarmax type, built in 2013, with a Japanese counterparty.

The transaction is expected to be completed in January 2026 and is part of the company’s financial flexibility strategy.

The financing of the ship amounts to 15.6 million dollars, with a total duration of eleven years. The agreement provides for an option in favor of the counterparty at the end of the eighth year, as well as a repurchase option for Castor, which is activated from the end of the second year of the charter period.

Castor Maritime, owned by Petros Panagiotidis, is active in the management and ownership of ships, as well as in energy infrastructure projects.

Its fleet consists of nine ships with a total capacity of approximately 0.6 million dwt, while the company also maintains a strategic stake in MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Capital AG.
