The LNG carrier Woodside Jirrubakura has completed its first port call at Pluto LNG Facility in northwestern Australia, marking another milestone in Peter Livanou’s GasLog strategy to provide reliable liquefied gas transportation solutions with a reduced environmental footprint.

The vessel was built in South Korea and is Woodside Energy’s first LNG carrier. The name Jirrubakura highlights marine biodiversity and respect for local cultural heritage.

In keeping with maritime tradition, Captain Ioannis Tsapelas was presented with a framed boomerang made from local Marruwa wood.

Together with sister ship Woodside Barrumbara, Jirrubakura is already supporting LNG loadings, in anticipation of the first cargo from the Scarborough Energy Project, one of Australia’s largest natural gas development projects and being implemented by Woodside Energy in the northwestern part of the country.
