The rapid technological evolution of UAV-based warfare leads to new requirements for the conduct and control of military operations, but at the same time it prescribes the massive use of these means in the everyday lives of citizens.
In this context, Positioning, Navigation, Timing (PNT) technologies and the need to ensure their resilience in both the military and civilian sectors are of major importance and are completely changing critical sectors, from defense and transportation to financial transactions, transit trade and telecommunications.
“From advanced defense systems to the smartphones we use every day, the PNT application is the backbone of connectivity, accuracy and security,” emphasized Konstantinos Valasakis, president and CEO of the Greek defense technology company Defenco SA, during a relevant seminar held at the initiative of Defenco SA and the French multinational aerospace and defense company Safran Electronics & Defense (SED), with the presence of high-ranking representatives from the Hellenic Armed Forces, the Hellenic Coast Guard, the Ministry of National Defense, as well as public bodies and Greek defense and technology companies.
Representatives from both Defenco and Safran focused on the far-reaching impact of PNT technologies on modern life and national security. They highlighted the critical importance of ensuring the resilience and integrity of positioning, navigation and timing capabilities across all domains (land, sea, air, space and cyber/electromagnetic spectrum) in the modern multi-spatial operational environment.
