Port infrastructure projects totaling 3,764,000 euros were approved for the islands of Spetses and Zakynthos, as part of interventions related to the upgrade and restoration of critical port facilities.
More specifically, the upgrading of the facilities of the old port of Spetses was approved, with a total public expenditure of 2,630,000 euros, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy said.
The project concerns interventions that enhance the functionality and operational efficiency of the old port, through the expansion of existing piers and the construction of new port infrastructure.
Moreover, the implementation and announcement of an open procedure for the selection of a construction contractor for the project “Restoration of Operational Facilities of the Port of Zakynthos”, with a budget of 1,134,000 euros, which is financed from the own resources of the Port Fund of Zakynthos, was approved.
The project includes restoration works of the port, with the aim of ensuring its safe and uninterrupted operation.
According to the Ministry, the two projects are part of the broader plan to improve port infrastructure in island areas, with an emphasis on functionality, safety and meeting the real needs of local communities and coastal shipping.
