Piraeus Bank inaugurates the first Bloomberg Lab

Piraeus Bank inaugurated “Bloomberg Lab powered by Piraeus” at the University of Piraeus, as part of the strategy to enhance quality education following the “MBA in Sustainability powered by Piraeus”.

This is the first modern Bloomberg lab in a Greek Public University with 12 terminals and state-of-the-art interactive whiteboards, which combines cutting-edge computing power with access to a wealth of data and Bloomberg analytics. The lab supports the academic and research activities of the Department of Organization and Management at the University of Piraeus, including the “MBA in Sustainability powered by Piraeus” Master’s Degree Program, which was created in October 2024 through the collaboration of Piraeus with the University of Piraeus.

During the inauguration ceremony of the specially remodeled room of the Bloomberg model laboratory (Bloomberg for Education), Piraeus CEO Christos Megalou stated the following: “The Bloomberg Lab powered by Piraeus is another step in the fruitful cooperation between Piraeus Bank and the University of Piraeus. Through this initiative, we strengthen the connection between education and practice and technology and people. We are creating a modern space where knowledge meets innovation and the new generation acquires the resources to evolve and actively contribute to the progress of the economy and society.”

In turn, the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Professor Michael Sfakianakis, stated that the creation of the Bloomberg Lab “was a personal vision of years” and stressed the importance of cooperation between the university and the business world, characterizing the Bloomberg Lab as a “living knowledge hub” that combines technology, research and education. In fact, he pointed out that “through this collaboration, the University of Piraeus acquires a modern educational tool that unites academic knowledge with practice and strengthens our mission to train executives ready to respond to the challenges of the international economy. The new infrastructure is a strategic investment in knowledge, internationalization and the preparation of our students for the global market.”
