A prosecutor on the Ionian island of Zakynthos on Tuesday proposed a guilty verdict against nine defendants charged with homicide in the death of US tourist Bakari Henderson at the isle’s Laganas resort in July 2017.
The prosecutor said six of the nine defendants should be found guilty of intentional homicide while in a “calm mental state”, as the specific felony is described in the Greek penal code. He recommended a guilty verdict for the remaining trio on lesser charges.
The prosecutor also recommended legal action against the bar owner Laganas, where the initial argument between the 22-year-old victim and defendants began.
Henderson’s parents were again in the courtroom this week.
