Luxury cruise operator Explora Journeys is expanding its presence in Greece and the Mediterranean through its vessel EXPLORA II, adding a new port of call in Pylos and returning to Amorgos after making its first visits to the island in 2024.

The company said the addition of the two destinations reflects its commitment to offering immersive and culturally enriching travel experiences in Greece, bringing guests closer to the country’s authentic character, cultural heritage and natural beauty.

EXPLORA II made its inaugural call at Pylos on May 8, 2026. During the current year, the vessel is scheduled to visit Pylos nine times and Amorgos eight times.

According to the company, the calls form part of Explora Journeys’ carefully curated Mediterranean itineraries, which combine iconic destinations with lesser-known ports in an effort to provide deeper cultural engagement and more meaningful travel experiences.

“Greece remains one of the Mediterranean’s most inspiring destinations and a cornerstone of our European itineraries,” said Justin Poulsen, Head of Itinerary Planning and Shore Experiences at Explora Journeys.

“With the addition of Pylos, we are inviting our guests to discover a different side of Greece, where authentic cultural experiences meet exceptional natural beauty and the unique identity of each destination,” Poulsen said.

“These destinations perfectly reflect our vision of a more relaxed, comfortable and experiential approach to luxury travel, allowing guests to forge deeper connections with local communities and experience the authentic spirit of both the Greek islands and mainland Greece,” he added.

Greece continues to play a central role in Explora Journeys’ Mediterranean programme, with more than 20 destinations across the country included in its 2026 itineraries.

Through calls at ports including Syros, Milos, Volos, Skiathos, Nafplio, Nydri and Monemvasia, the company aims to offer travellers a broader and more diverse perspective on Greece beyond its most established tourism destinations.
