Greek shipping company Thenamaris, owned by Nikolas Martinos, has entered into a new round of shipbuilding agreements, further strengthening its presence at Chinese shipyards and, according to market sources, returning to Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Group (DSIC) after an absence of nearly three decades.
Sources in the shipbuilding market indicate that the company has signed a contract for four LR2 Aframax tankers at DSIC’s Shanhaiguan subsidiary, with deliveries scheduled for 2029.
At the same time, Thenamaris is also reported to have expanded its agreement with Hengli Shipbuilding, with the initial order for three LR2 newbuildings potentially increasing to four vessels.
Market sources further suggest that the company has reached a separate agreement with a third Chinese shipyard for the construction of smaller product tankers, although additional details have not yet been disclosed.
