Salamis Shipyards are entering a phase of international upgrade, marking a substantial repositioning of the Greek shipbuilding industry on the global map.

Through their steady integration into the supply chain of Naval Group and participation in the FREMM/Belharra frigate program, Salamis Shipyards are becoming a strategic industrial partner, with an increasingly broad footprint in high value-added defence and commercial projects, both domestically and internationally. In this context, their presence in the global shipbuilding industry is consolidated, as they have effectively become a “permanent component” of the French company’s supply chain.

This development is not merely symbolic; it translates into sustained production activity, involving the fabrication of pre-outfitted sections (blocks) for Belharra frigates destined for international markets.

So far, fourteen pre-outfitted sections—so-called blocks—have already completed their journey to Naval Group Shipyard Lorient in France, where they will be integrated into the hulls of frigates that will ultimately join the fleets of countries selecting this vessel class.

Salamis Shipyards are acquiring a new identity: that of a facility where Greek expertise assumes an international role, piece by piece, block by block.

Message from Giorgos Koros

“The trajectory of Salamis Shipyards in recent years reflects a meaningful transition of the Greek shipbuilding industry to a new level of maturity and international presence,” Dr. George Koros, Chairman and CEO of the shipyards, said in a statement.

“Our integration into the Naval Group supply chain and our consistent participation in the Belharra frigate program is not merely a collaboration, but a tangible recognition of the expertise, reliability, and consistency we have developed.”

He added that “our capability as a shipyard to deliver complex, high-technology projects, whether in the defence or commercial sector, confirms that Greek shipyards can operate as equal partners in international industrial schemes,” noting that the objective is clear:

“For Salamis Shipyards to evolve from a project manufacturer into a strategic industrial partner, specializing in high value-added projects and contributing substantially to the strengthening of Greece’s industrial base and European defence autonomy.”

“At present,” he stressed, “blocks for the 7th Belharra are being produced,” confirming the continuity and expansion of participation in the program.
