Capital Tankers Corp. successfully listed its shares on Oslo Euronext Growth.
This listing follows the completion of the largest capital raising by a shipping company in the history of the Oslo Stock Exchange—and one of the largest globally—with total proceeds amounting to 500 million dollars. Based on the final funds raised, the transaction ranks as the largest shipping IPO of the past 20 years, as well as one of the largest of the past five years in terms of market capitalization, underscoring the strong confidence of the international investment community in Capital Tankers’ strategic plan and prospects.
Following the completion of the process, Capital Tankers’ market capitalization stands at approximately 2 billion dollars. A 26% stake was allocated to investors, with a focus on long-term institutional investors, while Capital Maritime & Trading retains a 74% stake.
The proceeds from the public offering will be used primarily to finance the company’s newbuilding investment program, as well as for working capital, transaction costs, and general corporate purposes. The company is planning an listing to the Main Market of the Oslo Stock Exchange and is also considering, depending on market conditions, a potential dual listing on a U.S. exchange.
At the opening of the first session, the share price was set at NOK 134 per share, giving the company a market capitalization of NOK 17.56 billion.
Gerasimos Kalogiratos, CEO of Capital Tankers Corp., stated: “We are pleased to welcome our new shareholders as Capital Tankers begins its journey as a publicly listed company. The strong investor response to our 500 million dollar offering—one of the largest equity raises in shipping in recent years—demonstrates the quality of our fleet and the attractive fundamentals of the crude oil tanker market.
The listing process on Euronext Growth Oslo was both efficient and well-structured, fully meeting our objectives and enabling us to quickly access a sophisticated investor base with confidence. We look forward to delivering on our commitments and creating meaningful value for our shareholders.”
