Greek defense companies are interested in joining the new Development Law regime that is currently being announced, which concerns the strengthening of Defense, with an emphasis on the utilization of dual-use technology for military and civilian purposes.
The relevant bill has been put up for public consultation until March 13, 2026 with the proposed reforms, which provide for the strengthening of the Defense Industry with 150 million euros through tax and other investment incentives.
The Development Law provides for support of up to 75% of the eligible costs of the investment plan.
The scheme provides for the support of dual-use investment projects in strategic sectors of defense and vehicle and aircraft manufacturing. It includes investment projects that belong to specific sectors of activity. In particular, they concern the Manufacture of weapons and ammunition, Manufacture of motor vehicles, Manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment for motor vehicles, Manufacture of other parts and accessories for motor vehicles, Manufacture of aircraft and related machinery, Manufacture of military combat vehicles.
The aim is to support investments in high-tech dual-use industries and to provide incentives to enterprises to develop production units or modernize existing infrastructure in the defense sector. In addition to basic investments in facilities and production equipment, it is envisaged that costs for consulting services to small and medium-sized enterprises may be subsidized. In addition, costs for professional training of employees may be supported.
