180-million-euro investment in Mission Critical Network (MCNGR)

The project Mission Critical Network (MCNGR), with a total budget of 180 million euros (including option and VAT) and 90 million euros without the option, is entering the implementation stage.

The Ministry of Digital Governance, within the framework of its executive, strategic and supervisory role for the planning and implementation of the project, has placed the draft announcement of the international competition for public consultation until March 29, 2026.

The project aims to design, develop and operate a unified national critical wireless communications system for the officers of the Hellenic Police, the Coast Guard and other Security Forces and related agencies operating in the field and contributing to security operations, search and rescue missions and border management.

According to the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, “day and night, 365 days a year, in every situation, and especially in emergencies and natural disasters, it is particularly important that those on the front line can communicate directly and reliably.”

He also emphasized in a statement to “N” “with the new national communications system, our goal is to give the Security Forces and emergency services the modern tools they need to effectively protect human lives. We are creating a unified and secure environment so that the Security Forces can cooperate in the field without obstacles, wherever they are, with continuous communication and better coordination both in daily operational operations and in the most difficult conditions. This is a substantial investment in the safety of citizens and in the daily support of the people who operate for all of us, so that they can do their job with greater efficiency and safety.”
