Servicers’ settlement total almost 4 billion out of 80 billion euros in bad loans

Servicers settled total debts of around 4.09 billion euros in 2025, according to official data.

The largest share of 90% of non-performing loans is held by the three major servicers –  Cepal, doValue and Intrum – with their percentages varying slightly from month to month.

According to the Secretary General of the Financial Sector and Private Debt Management, the total portfolio they managed started at 70 billion euros in the first months of 2025, it rose to 74 billion euros in May and in the summer, specifically from August, the non-performing loan (NPL) portfolio climbed to 79.4 billion euros for two months, while in the last quarter of the year the NPL portfolio reached 79.7 billion euros.

However, there were some months when settlements got a real boost. In particular, the first good performance was recorded in May with 490 million euros settled, corresponding to 6,600 debtors. In June, settlements for original debts of 514 million euros and 6,500 debtors, with 37% of them concerning housing loans. It is important that the year ended with settlements for 442 million euros in original debts corresponding to 5,522 debtors.
