Citizens will be able to transfer larger amounts directly from their mobile phones to friends, relatives or colleagues, as well as pay professionals, starting Thursday, January 15, through the IRIS direct payment system.

Money transfers between individuals will increase to 1,000 euros per day, while the daily limit for payments to freelancers and sole proprietorships will also increase to the same level.

With the aim of further facilitating digital payments, the new limits will be set at:

  • 1,000 euros per day for:

– P2P transactions (transfers between individuals)

– payments to freelancers and sole proprietorships (P2B)

  • 5,000 euros per month for transactions between individuals.

It is noted that for commercial transactions there is no monthly value limit, maintaining flexibility for business use.

With the new limits, IRIS becomes more attractive for everyday payments, transfers between friends or family members, but also for small and medium-scale business transactions, replacing in many cases traditional bank transfers and card payments.

The increase in limits is taking place while IRIS has already become mandatory for all businesses – physical and online stores – in combination with the POS connection with the AADE systems, enhancing transparency and tax compliance.
