Foreign buyers are showing great interest in acquiring real estate in Greece this year, according to data from “RE/MAX Hellas”.
As the research shows, Greece remains one of the most stable and attractive destinations in the Eastern Mediterranean for those looking for a second or holiday home or a property that constitutes an investment opportunity, attracting more and more interest from buyers from abroad in recent years.
Based on the results of the survey, in Attica, Israelis constitute the majority of foreign buyers, followed by Turks and Lebanese, while the presence of buyers from China and Ukraine is also significant.
Regarding the age profile of foreign buyers, according to the survey, four out of ten (40%) were between 41 and 50 years old, while the age group from 51 to 60 followed with a percentage of 27%. Lower percentages of foreign buyers are found in the age group over 61 years old (16% of the total) and in the age group from 31 to 40 years old (14% of the total). It is worth noting that young people under 30 years old were only 3% of foreign property buyers in Greece.
A very interesting fact is that the majority of foreign buyers, at a percentage of 68% of the total, visit Greece 2–3 times before deciding to purchase a property in Greece while a percentage of 16% make more than three visits before making a purchase. Another 16% make the decision after just one visit.
Regarding the intention to permanently settle in Greece, 57% of buyers leave open the possibility, while 18% are positive about such a prospect. The remaining 25% do not plan to permanently move to Greece.
