PPA awards first “Kunpeng” scholarships

The first “Kunpeng Scholarship” (PPA-COSCO SHIPPING Kunpeng Scholarship) award ceremony was successfully held at the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) premises, in the presence of representatives of the State, the Local Government and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

This is a new social responsibility initiative of PPA S.A., which supports first-year students with high admission scores to higher education from the neighboring municipalities of Piraeus, Perama, Keratsini-Drapetsona and Salamina, actively assisting the first steps of their academic journey.

During the ceremony, scholarships were awarded to 10 students, in recognition of their high performance, but also as active support for their access to higher education.

The event was attended and delivered by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Greece, H.E. Fang Qiu, the President of the Greece-China Friendship Group, Ioannis Tragakis, as well as the Mayors of Piraeus, Perama, Salamina, Yiannis Moralis, Yiannis Lagoudakos and Giorgos Panagopoulos and the General Secretary of Keratsini-Drapetsona, Kostas Tsefalas, who warmly congratulated the students for their performance and personal effort, underlining the essential role of such actions in social cohesion and in supporting the new generation.

The Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, Domna Michailidou, stressed the importance of the partnership between PPA S.A., COSCO SHIPPING and the municipalities of the region, which actively support young people through scholarships and social support programs.

During his opening speech, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PPA S.A., Han Chao, underlined the deeper social significance of this initiative, noting: “By investing in young people, we invest in the future of our local communities and the country.

At Piraeus Port Authority, we recognize that our role goes beyond the operation of a strong economic entity; it extends to a solid commitment and responsibility towards society.

With consistency and a sense of contribution, we will continue to stand by the new generation, creating opportunities, supporting its progress and contributing substantially to a society with more equality and perspective.”
