Greece’s revised Recovery Plan submitted to the Commission last week is expected to be submitted for approval at the Ecofin on December 12, along with approximately 14 revised plans from other member states.
As competent sources emphasized to “N”, Commission officials are now called upon to evaluate the Greek Plan and have their opinion ready around November 20.
During those days, and specifically on November 17, the European Commission’s autumn forecasts will also be announced, which will include estimates for the first time for 2027, that is, after the end of the Recovery Fund, but not its effects on the economies of the member states.
7th request
The “green light” from the European Union Finance Ministers on December 12 will pave the way for the submission of the 7th request by Greece. The main objective of the Greek side is for the 7th request, totaling 3.5 billion euros, to be submitted in December.
Regarding the 6th payment request (from the loan component) of 1.8 billion euros, it is intended to be submitted within the year. However, there is a possibility that the request from the loan component, which concerns the 7th installment, amounting to 1.8 billion euros, will be submitted in the first months of 2026 together with the 8th request from the grant component.
By the end of the year, the disbursement of 2.44 billion euros is expected to be made by the European Commission after the approval for the payment of the 6th request.
From the loan component, 535 loans have been contracted, of which 55% concern small and medium-sized enterprises. It is worth noting that there is a backlog in the loans totaling 17.8 billion euros that Greece is entitled to receive from the Recovery Fund.
