Meadway Bulkers remains positive on the prospects of the Handysize and Ultramax segments, according to the company’s Managing Director, George Delaportas, who outlined the firm’s fleet growth strategy.
The company also sees short-term opportunities in the Kamsarmax sector, as global energy markets continue to adjust to new supply patterns and evolving trade routes. Since the beginning of the year, Meadway has taken delivery of six vessels from Japanese shipyards and is awaiting the delivery of another 66,000-dwt vessel from Tsuneishi Shipbuilding.
Speaking to a Japanese media outlet, Delaportas said Meadway identified a favorable ordering window during 2023–2024 and secured construction slots at Japanese shipyards at an early stage, placing the company in a strong competitive position within the dry bulk shipping market.
