The presence of AWS in the country is further expanded

Amazon Web Services chose Greece for the opening of the first Outpost Testing Lab (OTL) in Europe and the 5th in the world. The presence of AWS in the country is further expanded, strengthening its commitment to support the economic development of Greece. AWS is demonstrating this way its commitment to providing innovative solutions and services to its customers in the region.

Through this program, customers, partners and internal teams of the company will have remote access to AWS Outposts databases and servers, and will be able to perform short-term tests at no charge. AWS Outposts are a set of fully managed computer and storage solutions that allow users to operate AWS infrastructure in their premises with access to the full range of services and tools it offers. This hybrid operation allows organizations to maintain complete control over their IT infrastructure while enjoying the scale-out and reduced operational costs of the cloud.

As Cameron Brooks, General Manager, EMEA Public Sector of AWS pointed out, in his statements on the sidelines of the AWS re:Invent 2023 conference, “we are particularly happy with the announcement of the first European Outpost Testing Lab in Athens. Greece is showing remarkable enthusiasm for cloud adoption and digital transformation, and we are eager to support the country’s efforts through this initiative. However, our investments in the country are not limited to this program. We have already established the AWS Edge Location in Greece, we have opened our local office in Athens, we have announced the Smart Island project and the installation of the Local Zone, we are moving forward with training programs, such as the program that will be implemented together with the Ministry of Labor and the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) with the goal of training 1,000 people in cloud skills, we do special trainings for people with neurodiversities, the AWS re:Start program and much more.”

“We have already noticed a particularly strong interest in the Outpost Testing Lab, both from the public and private sectors in Greece, and we believe that the program will be a valuable tool for companies wishing to harness the power of the cloud,” Cameron Brooks added. “Our commitment to Greece is great and we really want to continue our efforts to support the country’s digital transformation and economic progress.”
