Greece’s Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has introduced a new procedure allowing taxpayers to secure the immediate lifting of bank account seizure orders, provided they have repaid at least 25% of the debt for which the enforcement measure was imposed.

The initiative aims to strike a balance between safeguarding public revenues and providing prompt relief to individuals and businesses, enabling them to resume normal economic activity.

Applications can be submitted electronically through the myAADE digital portal under the “My Requests” section.

To qualify for the lifting of the seizure, applicants must meet all of the following conditions simultaneously:

  • At least 25% of the debt subject to the seizure, including interest and surcharges, must have been paid.
  • The remaining balance must be covered by an approved instalment arrangement or be subject to a payment suspension under legislation, a court ruling or an interim judicial order.
  • All other overdue tax liabilities of the taxpayer, whether personal or arising from joint liability, must have been settled, regulated or fully paid before the application is submitted.

The decision to lift the seizure is granted only once per debtor, with the bank account being released immediately through a fully digital process.
