The importance of international cooperation and investment in the next generation of talent was highlighted by Danae Bezantakou, president of the Propeller Club of Piraeus, during her participation as a speaker at the 7th Balkan Forum in Thessaloniki, titled “Shipping and Northern Greece: Challenges, Opportunities and Prospects.”
The forum, organised on the initiative of Greece’s deputy interior minister responsible for Macedonia and Thrace and attended by government ministers, brought together representatives from the government, academia and the shipping industry. Among other topics, Bezantakou highlighted the Student Port initiative, through which the Propeller Club supports the next generation of maritime professionals.
She also proposed mapping Northern Greece’s education and labour market needs in the maritime sector, adding that strategic investments are creating significant opportunities for the region to play an even stronger role in the industry’s future.
