METLEN announced on Wednesday that it has further strengthened its compliance and corporate governance framework by obtaining verification of compliance with the international ISO 37009:2025 standard (Conflict of Interest in Organizations) from the independent certification body TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD). This distinction reaffirms the Company’s tangible and ongoing commitment to adopting the most advanced international standards in compliance and corporate governance.
More specifically, METLEN is the first Greek company to be officially verified as compliant with ISO 37009, following the standard’s entry into force internationally in May 2025. ISO 37009 provides guidelines for the establishment, implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of conflict of interest management arrangements, contributing to enhanced trust, corporate transparency, and effective decision-making.
The assessment conducted by TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD) confirms that METLEN has implemented a structured and effective framework for the prevention, identification, and management of conflict of interest issues, incorporating internationally recognised practices that reinforce transparency, integrity, and accountability across all of its operations. The compliance verification certificate was formally presented during a special ceremony held at METLEN’s premises on 30 June.
Sofoklis Karapidakis, Compliance Director and DPO at METLEN, stated: “Compliance with ISO 37009 is the result of a systematic effort to develop and implement a comprehensive conflict of interest management framework at METLEN. We have strengthened our processes for identifying and assessing potential conflicts of interest, enhanced our prevention and management mechanisms, and increased awareness and accountability at every level of the organisation. This new international standard provides a robust framework for the continuous improvement of corporate governance and compliance practices as the challenges of today’s business environment continue to evolve.”
On behalf of the certification company, Thomas Arapogiannis, Director of the Business Unit Certification at TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD), emphasised: “The publication of ISO 37009 marks a new era for corporate governance, as it provides organisations, for the first time, with an internationally recognised framework for the systematic management of conflicts of interest.” He further noted that TÜV HELLAS (TÜV NORD), leveraging the expertise of the TÜV NORD Group, supports organisations that invest in transparency and integrity.
“The first implementation of ISO 37009 by a Greek company, namely METLEN, represents a significant milestone, and we hope it will serve as a benchmark for the wider business community,” he added.
The ceremony was also attended by Zefi Nikolaou, President of the Association of Compliance Officers in Greece (ASCO), and Evi Dimitroulia, President of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners in Greece (ACFE).
With the adoption of ISO 37009, METLEN further expands its portfolio of Compliance certifications, which already includes:
- ISO 37001 – Anti-bribery Management Systems
- ISO 37002 – Whistleblowing Management Systems
- ISO 37003 – Fraud Risk Management Systems
- ISO 37008 – Internal Investigations of Organisations
