2025 was a milestone year as GEK Terna completed its transformation from a construction and energy company into an infrastructure-focused group, its Chairman and CEO Georgios Peristeris said.

Speaking at the annual general meeting, Peristeris said the group now generates stable and recurring revenues through its participation in the country’s largest concession projects, a development he said stems from its long-standing strategic decision to invest in infrastructure. He noted that the Greek state received approximately 5 billion euros from the concession agreements for the Attiki Odos and Egnatia Odos motorways.

“We are focused on long-term investments. We do not build something and walk away; we create value,” he underlined.

He added that the capital proceeds from the sale of Terna Energy have been reinvested in new projects and have already generated returns for shareholders, expressing confidence that they will continue to do so in the years ahead.

Peristeris made particular reference to the Egnatia motorway, arguing that the group took over the asset in a “deplorable condition” and that extensive rehabilitation works are already under way to enable it to fulfil its broader developmental role for Northern Greece and the Balkans.

Referring to the Northern Road Axis of Crete (BOAK), he said the project has now entered the construction phase and expressed hope that works will progress at a rapid pace.
