Akrotiri Tankers, led by Marielena Prokopiou, continues its rapid growth trajectory just five months after placing its first newbuilding orders.
According to market sources, the company has returned to New Times Shipbuilding yards, entering into a new agreement for the construction of one crude tanker (157,000 dwt) and one tanker (73,000 dwt), thereby expanding its footprint in both the LR1 segment and the suezmax market.
Akrotiri Tankers was established in June 2024, initially focusing on LR1 second-hand tankers. It is also noted that Prokopiou had previously founded Delos Navigation Ltd in 2019, which currently
operates a fleet of 10 bulk carriers, with further expansion expected through the addition of three newbuild kamsarmax vessels.
