Danaos Shipping Co. Ltd, owned by Dr. Ioannis Coustas, is investing in initiatives aimed at bringing the younger generation closer to the maritime sector, recently hosting 14 students from Rizia High School—the northernmost high school in Greece—at its facilities.
Accompanied by their principal, Dimitris Tsamoglou, the students had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the world of shipping and the career prospects the industry offers. Dimitris Vasalakis presented key aspects of maritime operations, while the company’s Training Manager, Spyros Kyriakopoulos, guided the students through a hands-on experience using Danaos’ simulator.
Through the visit, the students acquired an initial practical understanding of life at sea and the demands of the profession. Through similar initiatives, the company aims to strengthen young people’s interest in maritime careers.
