The Thessaloniki Port Authority (ThPA S.A.) seeks to further strengthen the presence of Thessaloniki on the international cruise map, by proceeding with a strategic partnership with the consulting company Five Senses Consulting & Development.
This initiative is part of the broader development plan of the port of Thessaloniki as an attractive cruise destination in the Eastern Mediterranean, with the aim of exploiting the city’s potential for homeporting, attracting more cruise companies and strengthening the interconnection of the activity with the local economy and tourism of Northern Greece.
In the context of the partnership, a working meeting was held with the CEO of ThPA S.A., Dr. Ioannis Tsaras, and the Security Advisor, Konstantinos Kavdas, during which the prospects for further development of the cruise were discussed in general, including the exploitation of homeporting possibilities, i.e. the use of the city as a point of embarkation and disembarkation of cruise passengers.
A meeting was also held with the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis, with the aim of continuously strengthening the cooperation between the port, the city and tourism organizations, as well as the establishment of a coordinated framework of actions to further promote the destination and improve the visitor experience.
The strategic actions of the cooperation include:
- exploring homeporting opportunities in Thessaloniki
- strengthening cooperation with the city and local tourism operators
- creating new experiences for cruise passengers in Thessaloniki and the wider region
- promoting the destination in international cruise forums and strengthening the connection with the local economy
