The Hellenic Police have increased measures on specific targets of Israeli and American interest, due to the situation in the Middle East, the spokesperson of the Hellenic Police, Constantia Dimoglidou, announced.

“Such a target cannot be only diplomatic. We have seen in other cases that it can be business and commercial. Therefore, the measures of the Hellenic Police have been determined accordingly in critical infrastructure and facilities, and of course in major airports in the country in order to prevent any action,” she said speaking to public broadcaster ERT.

Referring specifically to the case of airports, she noted that more intensive checks are being carried out using all available technical means and increased personnel.

Asked to comment on whether there is cause for concern about the American base of Souda in Crete, Dimoglidou stated that all Greek state services, the armed forces and intelligence services are on alert, and “there is no cause for concern”.

At the same time, she noted that any pending matter of Greeks abroad that can be assisted by a service of the Greek Police is informed by the competent services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or National Defense. “There is no problem or we have not been informed of any problem so far”, she said.
