“I believe that by the end of the year we will be able to announce at least one collaboration, if not two,” said Eleni Vrettou, CEO of Credia Bank, speaking at the 2nd International Conference “Redefining the Futures Horizons: Designing the Sustainable Strategies of Tomorrow.”

As she said, the collaboration will concern one of the three sectors of bancassurance, asset management and brokerage companies. “We are looking for smart transactions that fit our philosophy,” Vrettou noted.
She made special reference to the recent acquisition of HSBC Malta, which, as he said, will double Credia Bank’s size, from approximately 7 billion euros to approximately 16 billion euros in assets, noting that it is an extremely profitable bank, generating 100 million euros in profits annually.

“With a small investment from us, it can yield much greater profitability,” she said, while at the same time pointing out that “with Malta as a springboard, Credia will improve its product footprint, close loans and make acquisitions.”

Investments on two fronts

Vrettou also referred to a large investment plan, which is evolving at two levels:

– At the level of digital applications and digital transformation. “Let’s tear down everything the bank has today and build it from scratch”, she pointed out, speaking of an investment of over 60 million euros over a three-year period.

– At the level of physical branches, where an investment of approximately 30 million euros is underway.
